This five-day course aims to give ST1 and ST2 trainees an introduction to gynaecological cytology in sufficient depth to fulfil the RCPath training requirement and also enable trainees to answer any questions which may arise in examinations.
Many of the morphological skills are transferable to non-gynae cytology and so it is hoped those attending may find the appreciation of nuclear detail and group morphology may benefit them as they move away from gynaecological cytology.
The course also aims to give an understanding of the screening programme so that they can understand the complexity and predict where issues may arise. There will also be a discussion of future technologies in acknowledgement of the remaining potential for changes.
